I am Phil Gregory
Welcome to the latest version of my website.
I come from Derbyshire, England. I was born in Manchester, Lancashire and raised in the Peak District village of Tideswell. I now live back in Derbyshire, after spending some 18 years south of the border in Staffordshire. I was adopted and I am of mixed heritage, having both Irish and Jamaican heritage.
Phil Gregory, it’s a common name.
Over the years since 1998, I have had many personal websites, some on Blogger and WordPress.com, but I thought it was time for something more comprehensive. My work in IT demands that my name be reasonably easy to find. I have found I have quite a few namesakes who work in a wide range of fields, from scientists and ornithologists to Phil Gregory, the musician.
This new site should give you an insight into the work I do and stuff that I’ve done in the past. It will also give family members and descendants, who may be interested, a look into my interests and minor achievements.
A lot of the content has the wrong published date on it, so bear with me please…it will take some sorting, there are hundreds of posts, and many need their links checked and the images re-sourced. I’m working on it… and in all likelihood may nver completely finish the job, it’s an ongoing labour of love.
You might find something from my citizen journalism works with Stoke hyper-local news team PitsnPots, or maybe you are interested in local history or Genealogy/family history.
Time is my enemy
Unfortunately, I can’t guarantee regular posting. Part of the issue is that, like most folk, I have a day job, and I literally have thousands of photos and articles to update and upload. I do plan to keep adding a lot more material, but finding the time to write it is difficult. Providing great images and videos to go with the articles and listing all the sources takes hours; it’s just one of my many hobbies.

Hi Phil – loving the Tideswell history and the tunnels stories.
We’ve recently purchased the old House of Correction (Madeira House) and are researching the history as best we can. To think there may be tunnels under us is fascinating.
