Gregory’s in Ashover, Derbyshire :17th Century

Ashover Village

I went to the Derbyshire records office in Matlock yesterday …I’m still seeking the father of James, born circa 1670. Although I can find no record of his baptism in Birchover, there was a James born in nearby Ashover in 1665. His parents were Robert and Mary.

James (listed as Jacobus) in the Latin church tradition of the day, had a brother named John…maybe a long shot, but I ran out of time…something to look into perhaps?

Also, James, born 1670, had a wife, Helen Walwin…I found details of Walwins in Elton at the end of the 16th C

But nothing after for a while….anyone know anything?
