As an Apple Regional Training Centre (RTC), staff from Stoke on Trent CLCs usually attend the bi-annual RTC conference at various locations around the country. The purpose of these conferences is to share and discuss the latest developments in Teaching and Learning using Apple Technology. Delegates listen to keynote speakers who deliver new ideas and techniques for digital inclusivity in the classroom.
The RTC conferences now use Twitter to share information with each other and the outside world. to separate our tweets from those of other people. All delegates and those tweeting about the conference use a Twitter hashtag. This year, I cannot attend the conference in Torbay, I will however build this post using information shared with me by other delegates via Twitter.

“Kevin Pay is talking about overcoming the digital divide. The e-Learning Foundation aims:
“…to reduce the effect of this “Digital Divide” by working with schools, parents and other stakeholders to ensure that all children have access to the learning resources that technology can make available, when and where they need them, both at home and at school.”
They have three core principles:
1. Equity of access
2. Sustainability
3. Home use
The third is seen as important – it is not a way for schools to get extra kit! Becta are distributing the funds, and it is going directly to families. The Home Access fund is means-tested (based on eligibility for free school meals. Home access but the child will bring it to school, so it has educational benefits too.

Re: Twitter use in class: I have an account and log on then the kids use them under my supervision eg Twitter in class.
